| HISTORY: He has been titled as " The Royal Hunting Dog of Afghanistan" and it is a fact that the kings of Afghanistan have maintained at the palace in Kabul a kennel of these hounds for many generations. He was used to hunt wolves, gazelles & foxes.
DESCRIPTION : The basic structure of the Afghanistan Hound beneath the long coat is that of a sturdy coursing hound. He has aristocracy stamped on him, his whole appearance is of dignity and aloofness with no trace of plainness about him. Males stands68 cms.(27ins) and females 63cm(25ins) from the ground.
CHARACTER: He is a gentle but aloof animal. Afghan Hounds are intelligent dogs and respond well to kindly treatment.
SPACE & EXERCISE: Being coursing and racing dogs they need a lot of exercise hence they are not suitable for small houses and flats. Homes withlarge lawns would be ideal.
ATTENTION REQUIRED: Afghan Hounds have long coats therefore regular brushing and grooming is very important. |
