| HISTORY: The breed whippet is not so old it was evolved in England about hundred years ago. His main job is racing but he excels in coursing rabbits too. In Lancashire and Yorkshire in England where he flourishes in the sport of straight racing he goes by the nickname "The poor man's race horse".
DESCRIPTION: The Whippet a sight hound gives the appearance of elegance and fitness denoting great speed and power. In many respects he looks like a miniature grey hound. The male stands 47 cm (18 1/2ins) and the female 43 cm (17ins) at the withers. It has short coat and is found in variety of colours, black, red, white, brindle, fawn and occasionally a mixture of all these colours.
CHARACTER: The Whippet is loving, obedient, intelligent and easy to train. They make affectionate pets.
SPACE & EXERCISE: Being a coursing and racing hound he needs a lot of exercise. Homes with large lawns are ideal for him.
