| SPACE & EXERCISE: Being a big dog he needs long walks daily. He needs plenty of room to play. He is not the dog for small houses or flats.

HISTORY: He is believed to be one of the descendants of the old fighting dog of Tibet. The Boxer type of dog was known throughout Europe, but it is in Germany that he reached his perfection during the last century.
He has been developed along scientific lines, the Germans succeeded in retaining all his old qulaities, while making him much more attractive in appearance. The Boxer was used for dog fighting bull baiting until these cruel sports were outlawed.
DESCRIPTION: The Boxer is, sturdy, square of build, with short back, strong limbs. His muscles should be well developed clean and smooth, not bulging, under taut skin. The head gives the boxer in unique individuality in the dog world. The head must be in perfect proportion appear powerful, and never small in comparison to the skull. The male stands 56-61 cm (22-24ins) the female stands 53-58 cms (21-23ins) He comes in fawn and brindle colours, with white markings limited to 1/3 of the ground colour.
CHARACTER: The Boxer is extremely intelligent, excellent with children and loves home and family. The Boxer is a good guard dog.
SPACE AND EXERCISE: If given enough space the Boxer will exercise himself. He can be kept in small houses and flats provided he can be taken for daily walks.
ATTENTION REQUIRED: Being short-haired he would need light brushing once a day. |
