| HISTORY: The Bull Terrier dates back to around 1835. He was developed in England by crossing old English Bull dog and one of the Terrier breeds. Until dog fighting was outlawed by the Bristish Pariament, he was used primarily in dog fighting pits. He was known as the "Gladiator" of the dog world. After the ban, the breeders started breeding for shows and domestic purposes.
DESCRIPTION: There are two varieties of Bull Terrier, white and coloured. In the white variety markings only on head are permitted, in coloured ones white markings are permitted. He is strongly built, muscular, symmetrical and active dog. A "Gladiator" of perfect form.
CHARACTER: Inspite of his history and aggressive appearance, the Bull Terrier makes an excellent family dog and companion.
SPACE & EXERCISE: He needs little exercise, and can be kept in small houses and flats.
ATTENTION REQUIRED: A light brushing daily. |
