| HISTORY: The Golden came into prominence in early 18th century in England and Scotland out of the desire for a medium sized dog suited to retriever both water fowl and upland game. It is not clear what mixture of gun and working dogs were used to develop the Golden.
DESCRIPTION: A handsome dog that stands 20-24 inchs (51-61cms) at withers - weights 60-75 tts (27-34 kg) a medium length hair, the legs are well feathered as the chest and tail the breed was recognised by the K.C.E. in 1903.
DESCRIPTION :At withers the Labrador stands 21 1/2 to 22 1/2 inchs (54-57cm)
CHARACTER: A good family dog having pleasant temperament. Easy to train-makes good working dog, some times used as guide dog for the blind people.
SPACE AND EXERCISE: Being country dogs they need at least an hour's walk-The Golden can alive in an outside Kennel that is well contstructed and draught-free-but prefers to live in a cool room in the house.
ATTENTIION REQUIRED: Brushing once a day. |
